Can Crowdsourcing Via Mobile Application Improve Student Learning in Computer Sciences?
What will happen to the performance of the students in computer sciences if we apply to crowdsource? According to Dawson, crowdsourcing can be of much help to students.
Crowdsourcing can not only improve the environment of the student but also provide support to the students who are under-confident in their learning process (Wu et al., 20913).
If we apply crowdsourcing with the use of mobile applications, then we must expect that the lecturers and the students will be united on equal terms. A research carried out by Dawson showed that there was a difference between the students who used crowdsourcing in carrying out their research and those who didn’t.
Crowdsourcing was chosen to help reduce the challenges that are encountered during the learning of computer algorithms, as I regard it as an ever-growing concept in the technological field. There is a lot of interest that is surrounding crowdsourcing, making it develop in many areas. I, therefore, saw an opportunity to contribute to the ever-growing body of knowledge relating to crowdsourcing.
The primary motivation of this proposal comes from my own experience plus the challenges that my fellow students and I have faced during the learning program. Still, throughout my degree program, I have experienced great joy in software development, to be more specific, mobile application development. I, therefore, regard this as an opportunity to bring up my interest in learning of students plus the desire to improve on my application development skills. Therefore, this project will be significant to not only me but also those around me, particularly students.
The main objective of this project is to investigate the effect of crowdsourcing (through the use of mobile applications) on student learning in computer algorithms. The project will also aim at providing an improved student learning environment. This is through proving to the student s that using mobile applications as a site of research can help a lot in their study.
Project Objectives At the end of the project, the proposal will be able to;
The subject of the research will be identified. The current literature relating to the problem will be analyzed. There will be a clarification of the subject, which will be followed by a definition of terms and concepts relating to the subject.
The target group will be identified, and data will be collected from this population. Finally, the data will be analyzed to determine its applicability in the project. The effectiveness of the project will be evaluated after that based on the obtained results.
Crowdsourcing will help students in attaining excellent performance in learning computer algorithms. The project will take place during the daytime. The use of its capital will fund the project. The researcher is not limited to access to financial support elsewhere. As the activities that will be involved in the project are well defined, the project will take the least completion time possible.
The research will be conducted individually where resources are to be selfallocated, whereas some will be accessed from the area of study. The research will involve activities like filling of questionnaires, interviewing samples, and observations not leaving out the use of case study.
