Doctoral Study Problem Statement

It is very interesting to secure a job as Hotel Night auditor since night shift is considered to very peaceful and every shift is never same making the job fun and easy. As a result, some people have managed to work as night auditors. But despite its easy and fun, things working a little differently in the night keeps the majority from working as Hotel Night Auditor. The term “Auditor” in a hotel night shift is used rather loosely since a night auditor confirms balances and closes out the daily sales for room rentals and beverage and food in case of any bar or restaurant presence while at the same time working as a third shift desk clerk.

It is normal to have such tasks as an auditor though this work is not a big deal or hard work to someone doing it during the day but is a handwork doing during the night shift due to the body condition. During the night the auditor has to make all decisions concerning the needs of the guests, different from day shift where can be a three to as many as ten different individuals involved in servicing need of the guest. At night there lacks bureaucracy due to a skeleton crew of working people.

It is like management does not acknowledge night auditors, a bit sexist, they play favorites, gossip. Furthermore, Night auditing has some weird challenges such as; fear of attacking, serving tired guests who are mood less or drunk individuals and gets hard to maintain a relationship with family or friends due weird hours. Night auditing has less likelihood to open doors for internal audit since the jobs are different and everybody’s wish is to be an internal audit someday. However, it is unclear of the major problem leading to majority rejecting this job since there are various reasons. Thus this study aims to explore the major reason and document accordingly.
