intelligent test
Peter and Linda are put into an intelligent test whereby the mental test is one of the prime voodoo fetishes of our time, so you may have to argue a little to find out the results of the tests. After the test we got to know Linda IQ is much higher compared to Peter. Intelligence test measures unlike the usual intelligent neglects some crucial things such as creativity and leadership imagination. Nevertheless it takes no measures of social judgment to say nothing of such personality matters as diligence and emotional balance. IQ test purports to be is a sampling of the intellect. Like any other product of the sampling method, the IQ is a figure with a statistical error, which expresses the precision or reliability of that figure. The only way to think about IQs and many other sampling results is in range. Ignoring these errors, which are implicit in all sampling studies, is considered as a silly attitude.
For instance, some time back Texas Governor made headlines when he noted that the affluent pay most of the Federal income taxes in this country while 47 percent of the earners pay nothing. He later calls all these injustice. Firstly what was considered wrong in this statistics is that our income taxes are always progressive in that those with more pay more. So the tax burden simply reflects the highly skewed income distribution in the county. Secondly if you only at Federal income taxes paid you get a very difficult result than if you put into consideration the total tax burden of our income earners thus this considered as a statistical subterfuge.
LESSON PLAN
Objective
· Teaching the concept, How to lie with statistics, to the students.
DAYS | ACTIVITY |
1 ; 8am-10am | Introducing them to the concept and getting to know my students |
2 2pm- 4pm | Teaching the first tactic: biased sampling that includes polling a non-representative group |
3 12.40pm-2.30pm | Teaching the second tactic; small sample sizes which involves selecting an adequate sample size in part of mathematics as an example. |
4 10am-12noon | Explain the way third way to deal with concept
Poorly chosen averages: involves averaging values across non-uniform population |
5 8am-10am | Tackling the fourth and fifth tactics on the concept
1.4 Results falling within the standards error 1.5 Using graphs to create an impression |
6 10pm-12noon | Teaching the last two tactics on statistics
“The semi attached figure”-This means stating one thing as an evidence for something “Post-hoc fallacy”-This is incorrectly asserting that there is direct correlation between two findings. Summarizing on the concept by getting to know what the student have understood |
