Women and make up
Figure 1 targets all women, because all ages’ women could clean their face. This poster said it could keep their beauty and women need to be beautiful to attract them.
Figure 2 more likely targets women who usually do house work at home. The woman in the figure looks like a housewife.
Focus: In figure 1 the photographer focuses on the face of the woman, and it looks perfect. It matches the product which is a soap for face cleansing.
In figure 2 the photographer focuses on a woman that is doing something to bread. It matches the main information this poster wants to tell us that is trying to save food and do not waste them. The woman in the figure looks like is saving the leftover bread.
Clothing/Makeup and Position: Figure 1 is a woman with a soldier. She looks like a messenger which suggests women if they have good look, they could communicate with other better, and they need to treat keeping beauty as a duty of a soldier.
Figure 2 only have one woman. She looks like a housewife who is making a slice of leftover bread in to a mould. Both matches the message they want to tell people.
Camera Angles: The photos been taken from front. In figure 1, it could let me focus on the whole face of this woman. In figure 2, it let me see want she is doing. Both emphasis the key point.
Color and Lighting: Both figures has yellow base color and looks bright. On the women’s face it will be brighter and have some gray color at the background to emphasis the woman and make people focus on it. Also, in figure 2 the saved food has bright color to suggest people those food could be still delicious. If do not use yellow, white and gray, the light and shade will be not so different. If change the color of food from warm-toned to cold-toned, it will looks sick.
Effect/Impact: They promote a similar kind of message which beauty and hygiene. It could make woman have some misunderstanding that they should become beautiful by fair means or foul.
In both figure, the woman looks beautiful and their smile looks so kind and sweet. The representation is positive that ask woman to care about their look and do not waste food. In Figure 1, the big face of the woman is the most attractive visual element. When people see a perfect face like that, they would like to make themselves look beautiful like that. In figure 2, the big red text tells the key point of this poster and the woman is also very beautiful. Beautiful woman and big text will attract people’s attention. Especially the huge text, which could make people read it subconsciously.
